Here is a company that uses questionable business practices such as deception and would not stop billing for their very questionable subscription coupon service.
My wife and son bought concert tickets online and were duped into purchasing a subscription coupon service through the checkout process of the ticket agency. The service was called e-Entertainment.
e-Entertainment claims that they sent a confirming email message to my son but it was apparently caught in a spam filter or never sent. e-Entertainment's policy does not include attempting to contact customers who do not use their service though phone or postal mail (but they are happy to bill these "customers" through their credit cards).
Our credit card account is used by multiple people in the family and several subscriptions are billed to this account; it can be hard to notice a recurring charge under $30.00. When we noticed the charge five months later, we asked for a complete refund of the service that we never wanted, never used, and never activated a logon. At first the agent refused this request but I told the agent that I would simply dispute the amount with the credit card company. The agent offered to stop the billing and offered a three month refund which I agreed would settle the matter.
Unfortunately, e-Entertainment billed my credit card the next month after agreeing the billing would stop. I contacted them again. A different agent and his manager indicated that they would again stop the billing. I again asked for a refund for the remaining money paid to e-Entertainment but they would only refund the current month which they claim that they "mistakenly billed" .
As I understand it, two relatively savvy internet users were both at the display and were duped by e-Entertainment's signup process, e-Entertainment told me that they would stop billing and did not. Eventually, the billing stopped.
Gee whiz, thank you e-Entertainment for all the entertainment!
